MARSHALL SAFETY PROGRAM
Safety is a top priority at Marshall Roofing & Sheet Metal, and we have a long tradition of safe, quality roof installations. A strong and effective worker safety program is central to our ability to maintain a strong culture of safety.
As part of the ROOFERS INSURANCE, LTD captive insurer group, we work with a team of professionals that manage and evaluate safety programs full time. Roofers Insurance LTD applies risk management techniques to our safety practices, and gives us the necessary feedback, structure and benchmarking to maintain an effective safety program and a strong safety culture.
Our strong safety track record and low workers compensation modification rate minimize the exposure to major claims and lawsuits for the owners and general contractors that work with Marshall.
Key elements of our safety program include, but are not limited to:
• WORKER SAFETY MANAGEMENT – through performance measurement, benchmarking and making specific adjustments to written safety programs and procedures
• MANDATORY SAFETY TRAINING, including pre-employment safety training, ongoing OSHA safety training courses, weekly Tool Box Talks, and annual Safety Days
• JOBSITE & PROJECT-SPECIFIC SAFETY PLANS
• REGULAR JOBSITE SAFETY INSPECTIONS - On Marshall projects, jobsite inspections are critical, and we maintain a regular safety inspection schedule. Our inspections include reviewing, among other safety considerations:
• Ladders & scaffolding
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including eye protection, hard hats, gloves, harnesses, and more
• Personal fall arrest systems
• Guardrails & toe boards
• Skylight & hole protection
• Warning lines
• Material handling, including lifting techniques, handling equipment, rigging, debris removal, and more
• Kettle safety
• Electrical safety
• Fire protection & prevention
• A SAFETY COMMITTEE that reviews inspection findings and implements new programs to strengthen our safety culture
• PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS and ONGOING RANDOM DRUG TESTING
• RETURN TO WORK PROGRAMS to assist employees returning to work from workers compensation
